The Athlete’s Advantage: Mental Training Workbook
The road to success starts within an athlete that wants to be the best at something – a body, mind, and soul that does not want to be ordinary, but extraordinary.
There are many elements that need to come together to become a champion at any sport.
If you are reading this, you’re probably already a good, competitive tennis player, but are looking for that extra competitive edge to get you to the next level. There are absolutely no shortcuts, no detours, no means of transportation to get you your winning destination. I cannot promise you that the exercises that you find in the ebook will get you where you want to be.
I am certain, however, that if you choose not to work on the mental aspects of your game, you will definitely stagnate as a competitor.
Mental training does not take place of your regular practice with your coach, but acts as an important supplement to your overall training.
My frame of reference in working with athletes is based on my Model of Cognition, where the quality of your performance stems from three areas: technique, thoughts and feelings. Each of these elements are equally important. You will not find a successful athlete without those factors being in balance. While the physical training still may take up the majority of your time, you must put in enough time to understand your thoughts and emotions during the game. This will ultimately help you to remain calm and focused, allowing you to play your best.
